In Leave Your Mark, Licht also highlights the different personalities involved in office politics, emphasizing on the importance of a paper trail. Just like it was for Andrea Sachs in The Devil Wears Prada, Aliza encountered a difficult boss who accused her of insubordination. Starting off with the importance of social media etiquette, Aliza introduces us to her life as a med student who made a career switch to fashion. It’s something I would highly recommend for undergrad students and entry level professionals. It addresses topics such as work place politics, how to make social media work for you in these days of online resumes.

It reads like fiction while sharing real-life experiences that makes it somewhat like a memoir. When I started reading it, I expected it to be focused on fashion alone due to the author’s bio, alas it’s the most all-round book I’ve read this year. It infuses humour with career worthy advise and if you’ve ever had issues working your social media glam then it is the manual you need. Written by Aliza Licht, the lady who launched the DKNY PR Girl on Twitter in 2009. Leave Your Mark is a self-help career book that every industry professional should read, particularly those in fashion. Fast forward to 2019 and I stumbled upon another fashion nonfiction which I regard as a mix of In Fashion and The Devil Wears Prada. A couple of months after reading that I read The Devil Wears Prada (Lauren Weisberger) often referred to as the fashion fiction Bible.
